Celebrity’s 3-Year-Old Son Dies Two Weeks After Horrific River Accident
|Levi Wright, the young son of rodeo star Spencer Wright, has sadly passed away.
The three-year-old died from a traumatic brain injury caused by a near-drowning accident that happened on May 21.
Levi was playing on a toy tractor when he fell into a river. He was quickly taken to a hospital in Salt Lake City. Local authorities found Levi unconscious about a mile downstream.
Initially, Levi was declared brain dead and not expected to survive, but there were small signs of hope.
“LEVI WOKE UP! I’m shocked, we don’t know much, but the doctor said it’s okay to get excited about it and I AM! My baby is so tough!” his mother, Kallie Wright, shared on Facebook.
Sadly, the results of the MRI done the next day “weren’t good.”
“We’re heartbroken, but these are just images that suggest what his quality of life might be. The real answer will come from what Levi does over the next few days,” Kallie shared.
Levi kept fighting while family and friends prayed for his recovery.
Sadly, the family had to make a heartbreaking decision.
“After many sleepless nights, lots of research, talking to the world’s best neurologists, and countless prayers, we are facing our biggest fear,” Kallie wrote. “Levi showed us just enough to give us time for all of this. We prayed he was defying the odds and showing us he wanted to stay, but now we realize he was giving us time to make peace with letting him go.”
After several scans, tests, and talks with doctors, the family decided to take Levi off life support.
The sad news of Levi’s passing was shared by Mindy Sue Clark, a close friend of the family.
“I can’t begin to explain how hard the last two weeks have been. From the moment I got the call about his accident to last night when we heard he had to go. I don’t want to focus on the sadness, even though it feels like my heart was ripped out and squeezed in front of me. I want to focus on the many miracles we witnessed during those 12 days.
“He was the most perfect three-year-old. So perfect that we couldn’t keep him. This baby boy moved mountains in those 12 days. He brought so many people together. In a world filled with darkness, we saw light because of him. He was everything his mom and dad could’ve ever wished for.”
We are deeply sorry for this heartbreaking loss. Rest in peace, Levi.
