Mother says she won’t leave her daughter alone with male relatives, sparks controversy

Family should ideally be the most trusted group of people, but this isn’t always the case in every household. A TikTok user has sparked a debate by sharing her approach to raising her daughter. She refuses to leave her child alone with male relatives and won’t allow sleepovers, a stance that has divided other parents.

Aubrey, a mother of two who goes by @theorganicmami on TikTok, has garnered over 2,000 followers by sharing her unique parenting perspective. In a “get-ready-with-me” video on TikTok, she openly discussed her child-rearing methods.

Aubrey firmly stated that her daughter would never attend sleepovers, not even at the homes of family members. She also emphasized that her daughter would never be left alone with any male, regardless of their relationship. “No sleepovers,” she declared.

“Nope. Not even with family members. And she will never be left alone with a male. I don’t care if you’re the grandparent, the uncle, or the cousin.”

Aubrey clarified that both her son and daughter would be subject to the same rules, meaning neither would be allowed to stay out late due to safety concerns.

“For instance, me letting my son go out late but not my daughter because it’s too dangerous for a woman,” Aubrey explained. “I’m just going to treat them both the same.”

In terms of physical affection, Aubrey noted that her daughter would not be forced to hug or kiss anyone if she didn’t want to, including friends and relatives.

She also stressed that her children would not be encouraged to keep secrets from their parents. She emphasized that her daughter would be free to express her emotions as she sees fit and would not necessarily have to attend public school.

Opinions on Aubrey’s approach were diverse in the comments section. Some parents supported her rules, citing their own experiences or concerns for their children’s safety. Others disagreed, believing that sleepovers offered valuable experiences and that the children might miss out on fun and cherished memories.

Some questioned her trust in her own male relatives and asked if she trusted her daughter’s father when alone with the child.
