Joan Collins, 91, Proves Love Has No Age Limit with Her New, Younger Beau
|Joan Collins is a big name in television, famous for playing Alexis Carrington on *Dynasty,* a role she took on in 1981. Her personal life, though, hasn’t always been easy.
Joan has revealed some surprising details about her life, including struggles that many people never knew about. She has gone through difficult experiences that she only spoke of much later.
Joan Collins had been married four times when she once said she would never get married again. But that changed when she met someone 30 years younger than her, and she soon took her words back.
Now, twenty years later, she has been happily married for nearly two decades. Collins is a Hollywood icon and has captivated people for years, both with her role as Alexis and her stunning looks.
While her professional life was highly successful, her personal life was more complicated. Her first marriage was to British actor Maxwell Reed, but it was an unhappy one. She once explained, “We made it clear from the beginning that there were certain things we wouldn’t tolerate in our marriage.”
Later, she opened up about her difficult experience, saying, “Sadly, abuse is something I experienced in my first marriage, and no woman (or man) should ever allow it, either mental or physical, although so many still do. That’s why I support the #MeToo movement.”
Her second marriage was to singer Anthony Newley, famous for his music and theater. While they were happy at first, she discovered Newley had been unfaithful.
Remembering that time, she said, “Infidelity is another no-no. My marriage to Anthony Newley ended because of his womanizing, and to me, that breaks a sacred bond.” She and Newley had two children, Tara and Sacha.
Her third marriage was to Ronald S. Kass, a music executive who once headed the Beatles’ record label, Apple. When they married, Kass was dealing with job and financial issues and relied on Collins for support. Some reports say Kass also struggled with heroin addiction. They had a daughter, Katy Kass, but later separated.
Her fourth marriage was to Swedish singer Peter Holm. Their relationship became well-known in tabloids, as Holm was often associated with Collins despite his own musical career in Europe.
Reflecting on this marriage, Joan shared that they were “dragging along” the relationship. She added, “After the difficult divorce from my fourth husband, Peter Holm—a process that lasted longer than our 13-month marriage—I said I’d never marry again.”
But then she met Percy Gibson, a theater company manager who was 32 years younger. She decided to marry again for the fifth time. When they married, she was 68. They first met at a book signing in New York City for Collins’ book *My Friends’ Secrets.*
Joan described Percy as “the most honorable man” she’d ever met. She shared that their relationship grew slowly, giving them a chance to deeply understand each other.
“We got to know each other very well before we committed. We really, really got to know each other deeply in the right way,” she said.
Despite the big age gap, Collins was never bothered by people’s comments. She felt lucky to have found someone who shared her zest for life.
She said that marrying a younger man inspired her to stay active both physically and mentally. She even joked that she sometimes has more energy than her younger husband!
When people saw Joan Collins and Percy Gibson together, the comments about their age difference faded away because people could see how much they loved each other. Joan even joked about their age gap once, saying, “If he dies, he dies!”
Joan shared that their marriage is based on nearly two decades of shared values and mutual respect. She also took advice from her friend Michael Caine, who suggested that a couple should have separate bathrooms.
She humorously shared Michael’s advice: “Michael once said the secret to a happy marriage is separate bathrooms. We try to keep to that rule, and it really does make a difference.”
Joan also shared that while they sometimes disagree, they always apologize and laugh about it. They make it a priority to celebrate each other. She said that their respect for one another helps keep their marriage happy.
She explained, “We compliment each other all the time, but I’m also quick to point out if he’s getting a bit of a tummy, and he’ll mention if I’ve gone a bit overboard with the glitz.”
The actress added, “Percy loves me best when we’re at home together—me without makeup and him unshaven in his tracksuit bottoms.” This year, the couple celebrated 22 years together.
It’s clear that they are deeply in love. Joan Collins seems to have found a strong, happy marriage this time. What do you think of their relationship? Share this with others to see what they think!
