Queen Camilla’s Health Scare: Royal Fans Rally with Prayers After Shocking Diagnosis
|Buckingham Palace shared that Queen Camilla, who is 77, has a chest infection.
The BBC reported that because of this diagnosis, Camilla has canceled her plans for Thursday. This includes her scheduled visit to the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, where the Duchess of Gloucester will attend in her place.
Queen Camilla will also miss a reception at Buckingham Palace for Olympic and Paralympic athletes, which King Charles III will now host on his own.
Following her doctor’s advice, Camilla will be resting at home. However, she still plans to attend important events this weekend, including the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday and the Cenotaph service in Whitehall on Sunday.
rime Minister Sir Keir Starmer wished the Queen a “speedy recovery.”
Many royal supporters have sent their well-wishes online. One commented, “I’m sorry to hear that Her Majesty Queen Camilla is unwell. I wish her peace, rest, and recovery.” Another wrote, “I pray she has a speedy recovery.”
Some online comments questioned whether the King and Queen are fit to lead, with one saying, “Charles and Camilla should step down. Health issues prevent them from fully carrying out their duties.”
Many supporters continue to send Camilla messages of support, acknowledging her dedication to royal duties despite recent health challenges. Some noted her workload, especially given King Charles’s absences for treatment.
The Palace believes her illness may be minor and possibly linked to recent long-distance travels. In October, Charles and Camilla visited Australia and Samoa, where they spent time with the public and attended various events.
While visiting St. Thomas’s Anglican Church in Sydney, Camilla even took selfies with the crowd, an informal gesture that caught attention. Although there are no strict rules, royals traditionally avoid selfies, preferring personal interactions.
Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter explains, “Royals would rather have personal interactions than take selfies.” She added that selfies can become overwhelming and raise security concerns.
Camilla’s interactions with fans marked a change in how the royal family adapts to modern public events. This tour to Australia and Samoa was their first to the region since Charles became King.
While in Australia, they signed a historic Bible and Book of Common Prayer, continuing a tradition upheld by Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana in past visits.
In Samoa, they spent time with local communities, enjoying celebrations and cultural events. Charles even planted a tree to support a conservation program to protect the endangered Samoan swallowtail butterfly.
The couple also attended a dinner at the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, hosted by Samoan and British teams, in honor of the famous author. On their final day, they attended a farewell ceremony, where Camilla was seen becoming teary-eyed.
A video posted on TikTok showed Camilla’s emotional response as Samoan leaders honored Charles and recognized his ongoing battle with cancer. She later smiled and laughed as unexpected rain caused technical difficulties during the farewell.
Queen Camilla’s recent tours have shown her dedication to her duties. She is reportedly completing a documentary on domestic violence awareness, which will air next week, despite her recent health setback.
