60 Years After Adoption, Man Discovers 4 Identical Siblings—Wait Till You Hear the Story
|A 60-year-old man got a shocking surprise when a stranger accused him of being a cheater, leading him to discover he had several siblings.
Phillip Granger always thought he had one of those faces that looked like everyone else’s. Throughout his life, people often mistook him for someone they knew.
Even though his wife thought he was handsome, Phillip felt ordinary because strangers constantly confused him with other men. Things took an unexpected turn when Phillip was 60 years old and out for dinner with his wife, Mara.
The couple was celebrating Mara’s big business deal at their favorite restaurant. As Phillip leaned over to kiss Mara’s hand, a woman stormed up to their table, looking furious.
“So, you had to work tonight?” the woman shouted angrily. “An emergency surgery? You CHEAT! We’re done!” She then threw her wine in Phillip’s face and stormed out.
Phillip grabbed a napkin to clean the wine off his face. “Honey, I have no idea what’s going on,” he said, confused. But Mara wasn’t about to let it go. She quickly got up and followed the woman outside.
“Excuse me,” Mara called after her. “Please, can you explain what just happened?”
Who are you?” the woman asked angrily. “His girlfriend?”
“No,” Mara answered calmly. “I’m his wife.”
“He’s MARRIED?” the woman shouted in shock. “I swear, this is the last time I date a doctor! Dr. Ralf Gois! I should have known!”
“My husband’s name is Phillip Granger,” Mara replied. “And he’s not a doctor.”
The woman’s anger turned to embarrassment. “Oh my God!” she said, flustered. “But he looks EXACTLY like Ralf! Like a twin!” Before she left, she gave Mara the phone number for Dr. Ralf Gois.
“Phil,” Mara said. “This is really strange. That woman said this Ralf looks just like you—like a twin. You were adopted, so maybe he is your twin.”
Phillip was intrigued. Although he’d grown up in a loving home, he always felt like something was missing. The idea of a sibling, especially a twin, felt like it explained everything.
“He’s probably just a lookalike,” Phillip said, though he agreed to call Ralf and arrange a meeting. “Hello,” Phillip said nervously. “You don’t know me, but my name is Phillip Granger, and I think we look alike…”
Later that day, Phillip and Ralf met, and it was like looking into a mirror. They were identical. After a brief conversation, they discovered they were both adopted and born in the same hospital on the same day.
The two couldn’t stop laughing, crying, and hugging. Ralf, who was unmarried and had no close family, was thrilled to find his brother.
“Phil,” Ralf said, “we can find our mother! The hospital where we were born has digitized all their records. I can access them!”
They rushed to the hospital, where Ralf quickly pulled up the birth records. But as Ralf read the screen, his face went pale.
“Ralf?” Phillip asked, worried. “Did you find her? What’s wrong?”
Ralf nodded slowly, his eyes wide. “Her name is Janet Corbin,” he said.
“That’s great!” Phillip said eagerly. “So what’s the problem?”
“There are five of us,” Ralf whispered. “FIVE!”
Stunned, Phillip and Ralf decided to find their other siblings. They took a selfie together and shared it on Instagram with their story, asking for help to locate their brothers.
The post went viral. Soon, they found two more brothers, Tom and Gordon. Their reunion was joyful, and Mara told Phillip that seeing him with his brothers was overwhelming.
“Mara,” Phillip said quietly. “I’ve never been so happy. But there’s still one more of us out there.”
The four brothers took another selfie and renewed their call for help. Their story made national news, with TV stations covering their search. Finally, one evening, the missing brother appeared—but he wasn’t alone.
Phillip, Ralf, Tom, and Gordon were having dinner at Phillip’s house when the doorbell rang. Mara answered it and returned with a big smile.
“Who is it?” Phillip asked.
“It’s you,” Mara said, stepping aside. The last brother, David, walked in. He was identical to his siblings, but he wasn’t alone.
“This,” David said, introducing a tiny elderly woman by his side, “is mom.”
The brothers stood speechless as the woman spoke. “I’m Janet Corbin,” she said tearfully. “And I am so, so sorry.”
Janet explained that she’d been 16 when she gave birth to quintuplets. Overwhelmed, she was pressured by her mother to give four of them up for adoption while keeping one. Though she’d raised David, she never stopped thinking about her other sons.
After nearly sixty years, the family was finally reunited, and Janet’s sons felt whole for the first time.
