This Dog Kept Visiting an Empty Store—One Night, a Boy Followed and Was Stunned!
|A poor boy who worked at a warehouse near a closed bike shop noticed a scruffy dog visiting the store every day without fail. Curious about where it was going, he followed it one day and discovered a heartbreaking secret.
Eighteen-year-old Chris was used to seeing stray animals around the market. But Ollie, a Shiba Inu, was different. He was friendly, well-behaved, and too clean to be a stray dog.
When Chris first saw Ollie, the dog stood in front of the closed bike shop, staring through the glass. His coworkers told him that the dog belonged to the shop owner, who had stopped coming to work for weeks.
Chris felt sad whenever he saw Ollie. He loved dogs and couldn’t understand how someone could abandon their pet. One day, before going to lunch, he patted Ollie’s head and said, “Hey there, Ollie… Want a sandwich, boy?”
From that day, Ollie ran to Chris every lunchtime, wagging his tail happily when he saw the lunchbox. But instead of eating the food, Ollie would grab it and run away.
Chris watched Ollie do this every day. It made him curious. At first, he thought Ollie might have puppies somewhere, but that didn’t make sense because Ollie was a male dog.
With each passing day, Chris grew more worried. Ollie was losing energy, and his once-shiny coat looked dull. He seemed troubled, and Chris couldn’t figure out why.
“Where is he taking the food without eating it?”
One lunchtime, Chris saw Ollie get excited at the sight of the sandwich. But, as usual, he grabbed it and ran. This time, Chris decided to follow him.
“Ollie, where are you going?” Chris called out as he ran after him. But Ollie didn’t stop or look back. He disappeared out of the marketplace, leaving Chris standing there, confused.
That evening, after work, Chris saw Ollie sitting outside the bike shop again. The dog looked lonely, staring through the glass. When he saw Chris, he let out a soft whine.
Chris felt sad for Ollie. Over the past few days, he had grown attached to him. Ollie was more than just a dog—he was a friend. Chris knew he had to help him.
He knelt down, stroked Ollie’s head, and whispered, “You’re not alone, buddy. I’m here for you.”
Chris decided to take Ollie home. But there was a problem—he lived in a rented apartment with his girlfriend, Mila, who didn’t like dogs.
Chris knew bringing a dog home was risky, but he couldn’t leave Ollie on the streets. That evening, he gently put a leash on Ollie and walked him home.
Chris felt both happy and nervous. He knew Mila wouldn’t be pleased. But he was determined to convince her to keep Ollie.
When he got home, Mila was furious.
“What is this dog doing here?” she yelled, stepping back in disgust. “Take him away.”
“Babe, he has nobody. He needs a home,” Chris pleaded. “Please, just give him a chance. He’s a great dog. You’ll love him.”
But Mila refused to listen.
“We already have enough problems! We can’t have a dog. I’m allergic, and I don’t want to clean up after him. Take him away!”
Chris begged, showing Mila how obedient and friendly Ollie was. Finally, she gave in—but with strict rules.
“Fine! But you clean up after him. And he’s not allowed in our bedroom. If he causes trouble, he’s out!”
Chris was relieved. He knew Mila didn’t like dogs, but at least she agreed to keep Ollie.
That night, Chris slept in the kitchen with Ollie curled up near his leg. He was happy to have helped the dog. But his happiness didn’t last long.
The next morning, Ollie was gone.
Chris panicked. He searched the entire apartment, but Ollie was nowhere to be found.
“Did Mila get rid of him?” he thought angrily. He confronted her, but she denied it.
“I wouldn’t do that! I don’t like dogs, but I wouldn’t throw away something you love,” Mila argued.
Just then, Mila screamed from the kitchen.
“I told you! Look at what that dog did!” she shouted. “He stole the steak I left out to thaw!”
Mila laughed at Chris. “Your ‘loyal’ dog ran away after stealing my food! I knew he was trouble.”
Chris felt betrayed. He regretted bringing Ollie home. “Maybe she was right,” he thought. “Maybe I shouldn’t have trusted Ollie.”
When Chris got to work, he saw Ollie in the same spot outside the bike shop. Seeing him made Chris even angrier.
At lunchtime, Chris refused to share his food with Ollie. He was too upset about the stolen steak.
Later that evening, Chris saw someone toss Ollie a stale piece of bread. The dog grabbed it and ran away. Suspicious, Chris decided to follow him.
For over two hours, Chris ran after Ollie. The dog didn’t stop to eat. Finally, they reached an old, abandoned house on the edge of town.
“Why is he coming here?” Chris wondered.
Ollie slipped under a broken fence and ran to the house. Chris climbed over and followed him.
“Hey, boy…why are you digging under the door?” Chris asked.
Ollie placed the bread in a hole under the door. Suddenly, Chris heard barking from inside. A German Shepherd was trapped inside, scratching at the door.
Chris peered through the window and saw the dog eating the bread.
“Oh my God… you’ve been bringing food for your friend!” Chris gasped.
The German Shepherd barked weakly. It was clear he was starving. Chris knocked on the door, calling for the owner, but nobody answered.
“Who locked this dog inside?” Chris wondered. The house looked abandoned.
Chris knew he had to help. He called the police.
As he waited, he smelled something terrible coming from a nearby building. Moments later, the police arrived.
“Officer, there’s a dog trapped inside,” Chris explained. “And I think something is wrong here.”
The police broke the door open. The German Shepherd was weak and thin. Chris teared up when he saw the poor dog struggling to stand. His collar read “Max.”
“Hey, Max… You’re safe now,” Chris whispered, stroking his fur.
Then, the police found something shocking. In a nearby building, they discovered a decomposed body—the missing bike shop owner.
“We’re investigating the cause of death,” the sheriff said. “He lived here alone with his dogs. It looks like he passed away weeks ago. These dogs will go to a shelter.”
Chris couldn’t leave them. After seeing their suffering, he knew he had to help.
He spoke to the police and arranged to adopt both dogs. While Max went to the vet for treatment, Chris took Ollie home.
Mila frowned when she saw Ollie again. “Not again, Chris. I thought he was gone.”
To her surprise, Ollie slowly walked to her and offered his paw. Mila hesitated but took it. Tears filled her eyes.
After Chris told her what happened, her heart softened. She agreed to adopt both dogs.
A few weeks later, when Max came home from the vet, Chris and Mila were the happiest dog parents. Ollie had proven that true friendship and loyalty could change lives.
