Primary School Music Teacher SHOCKS Judges with His INSANE BGT Audition!
When Mike Woodhams, a primary school music teacher, auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent 2024, he came across as a friendly, enthusiastic entertainer who loved sharing his passion for music. But when he started singing, no one expected his performance to be as amazing as it turned out to be.
Mike isn’t just a singer—he’s a music impressionist. He can impersonate singers from Boyzone to Anastacia, adding a fun and quirky twist. When the music video for James Blunt’s hit song “You’re Beautiful” started playing behind him, the judges were confused. But as Mike sang in perfect sync with the video, making it look like James Blunt was lip-syncing to his voice, the audience went wild with excitement.
Mike’s act was full of humor, using props like flower bouquets and sunglasses that matched the ones in the music videos he was imitating. His funny, “Stars In Their Eyes”-style performance added a fun and colorful touch to the entire show.
Judge Bruno Tonioli called it “the best vocal impressions I’ve heard in a very, very long time,” praising Mike’s voice and surprising talent. Alesha Dixon also noticed how well Mike could impersonate both male and female singers.
Simon Cowell was equally impressed, laughing throughout Mike’s performance and giving him two thumbs up. He said, “I’m so surprised, because you really undersold yourself. You’re the kind of act I really believe could win this whole show.”
Mike left his audition with four Yes votes and the support of the whole audience. His audition video quickly got over 1 million views on YouTube in just two weeks.
Mike, 37, is from Milton Keynes and works as a music teacher and vocal coach for students in Year 3 to Year 6. He teaches recorder, ukulele, and singing, and has a Master’s degree in vocals from The Voice Study Centre in Colchester. While he is a professional teacher, his fans love his natural talent as a family entertainer, bringing joy and fun back into music.
Mike’s audition was a hit, and with the huge attention his performance has gotten, it’s clear he will keep surprising everyone as the live shows continue.
