New reports from Indian aviation authorities reveal that Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a veteran pilot with over 8,200 flight hours, attempted to send a mayday call just before impact.

“Mayday… no thrust, losing power, unable to lift,” Sabharwal radioed to ATC in a final effort to communicate the aircraft’s critical failure.

He was joined in the cockpit by First Officer Clive Kundar, who had logged over 1,100 hours of flight experience.

Tragically, both pilots perished in the crash.

Out of the 242 people on board, only one individual survived: Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British national. He is currently being treated in a local hospital and is expected to undergo several surgeries.
