Mariska Hargitay’s Rare Red Carpet Moment with All Her Children Melts Hearts at “My Mom, Jayne” Premiere
|Mariska Hargitay Shares Red Carpet Spotlight with All Three Children at Emotional “My Mom, Jayne” Premiere
In a rare and touching public appearance, Mariska Hargitay stepped onto the red carpet with her three children by her side — and the moment was nothing short of heartwarming.
On Monday, June 23, beloved Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay, 61, attended the premiere of her deeply personal documentary My Mom, Jayne in Los Angeles. But what made this evening truly unforgettable was the presence of her full family — all three of her children joining her in a rare and moving red carpet appearance.
Hargitay, radiant in a sleek, long-sleeved black dress, was joined by her eldest son August, 18, who sported jeans and a classic striped shirt. Her youngest son Andrew, 13, opted for an all-black outfit paired with pink sneakers, while her daughter Amaya, 14, looked graceful in a flowing baby pink gown adorned with soft ruffles.
Mariska shares her children with husband Peter Hermann, whom she met while filming Law & Order: SVU. The couple wed in 2004 and began their journey into parenthood two years later when Hargitay gave birth to August at age 42. The couple later adopted Amaya and Andrew just six months apart, creating what Hargitay describes as her “perfect” family.
A Mother’s Journey with Grace and Gratitude
In a 2024 interview with PEOPLE, Hargitay opened up about how motherhood has changed her — for the better.
“I’m so grateful that I’m an older mom,” she revealed. “I don’t know if I could have handled it when I was younger. When I was younger, I wasn’t as present, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to accept and appreciate.”
Her honesty resonates with many who find themselves embracing parenting later in life. For Hargitay, being a mom is not about perfection — it’s about presence, patience, and love.
“The thing that’s made me a better parent is my kids, because they taught me to really listen,” she explained. “My husband is my North Star, and my kids are my teachers.”
A Family Built on Love and Chaos
The actress has long been candid about the beautiful chaos of raising three children. In a 2018 interview, she said:
“Our family is so perfect, or at least perfect for me. Together we’re just this whole, happy, joyful, chaotic, crazy unit. I’ve never known anything that was more right.”
That authenticity, love, and resilience were on full display at the My Mom, Jayne premiere. The documentary pays tribute to Mariska’s mother, screen legend Jayne Mansfield, while also exploring themes of loss, identity, and legacy — making it all the more meaningful that her own children were there to witness the tribute.
