John Stamos Speaks Out Against Lori Loughlin’s Ex Mossimo Giannulli: ‘He Broke Her to the Core’
After decades of friendship, John Stamos is standing firmly by Lori Loughlin’s side.
The Full House star opened up about his longtime friend and former costar during a candid conversation on the Good Guys podcast on Monday, October 20, where he expressed deep compassion for Loughlin amid her difficult separation from designer Mossimo Giannulli — and sharp criticism for her estranged husband.
“I’m just heartbroken for her right now,” said Stamos, 62. “She’s just devastated. For a girl who has lived her life really well — a good person, a good mother, a good wife — to be thrown into this separation, blowing up her family this way… I just hate to see her go through this.”

A Lifelong Bond Between Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky
Loughlin, 61, and Stamos famously played Aunt Becky and Uncle Jesse on Full House in the late 1980s and ’90s, building a friendship that has endured for more than three decades. Stamos said he’s always admired her grace — calling her “a saint.”
But he didn’t hold back when it came to Giannulli, whom Loughlin married in 1997.
“I said, ‘Look, all the negativity and hardship you’ve been through in your life is connected to this guy,’” Stamos revealed. “Whatever he did to her, it busted her up to the core. She put up with a lot over the years of this guy.”
He added that while he won’t reveal private details, he witnessed much of what Loughlin endured firsthand.
“She is an angel, and she always made things better. She cleaned everything up. He’s a very successful dude — but she was the heart.”

Standing by Her Through Scandal and Separation
Stamos also reflected on the college admissions scandal that shook Hollywood in 2019, when Loughlin and Giannulli were charged for paying $500,000 to secure their daughters Olivia Jade (26) and Isabella (27) admission into the University of Southern California as fake athletic recruits.
“When the press conference about the investigation came out, I texted her,” Stamos recalled. “She didn’t even know it was on every channel. That was the last time I heard from her for a while.”
In May 2020, both Loughlin and Giannulli pleaded guilty to wire and mail fraud. Loughlin served two months in federal prison, while Giannulli served five months.
Stamos says he stood by her throughout that period, offering quiet support and friendship.
“I really tried to be there for her during that time,” he said. “She’s been through enough.”

“I’ll Never Talk to Him Again”
When asked about his relationship with Giannulli today, Stamos didn’t hesitate.
“I will never talk to him again,” he declared. “He’s a terrible narcissist, and I don’t think you ever get out of that unless you’re able to. I pray for this guy — I really do. I pray that he realizes what he had and that he gets some help.”
The actor admitted he doesn’t fully understand Giannulli’s choices, but his hope is that the designer finds peace and self-awareness.
“I pray that he gets a hold of whatever hole he’s trying to fill. What he had was everything anyone could hope for.”
Loyalty That Lasts Decades

Despite the turmoil, Stamos remains devoted to his friendship with Loughlin, whom he has always described as one of the most genuine people he’s ever known.
“She’s been through hell and still holds her head high,” he said. “She’s a good person who made mistakes — and I’ll always be there for her.”
Their enduring bond, forged on one of television’s most beloved sitcoms, continues to remind fans why Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky were always more than just a TV couple — they were, and still are, family.
