Couple Dies After Drinking This Homemade Drink in Vietnam!
|A British woman and her fiancé died after drinking contaminated limoncello in Vietnam, police have confirmed. Greta Marie Otteson, 33, and her fiancé Arno Els Quinton, 36, had gone out for dinner on Christmas Eve.
Afterward, the couple ordered two bottles of “homemade” limoncello from another restaurant to enjoy back at their accommodation. On Christmas Day, they both woke up with what they called “the worst hangover ever,” but instead of going to the hospital, they decided to “sleep it off.”

Sadly, both Greta and Arno were found dead in their rooms on Boxing Day. According to a close source, Greta contacted her parents through WhatsApp on December 25, mentioning having “black spots” in her vision and a severe hangover.
A local bar owner, who was also a good friend of the couple, came by to help and offered to take them to the hospital, but they refused. Sadly, by that time, it seems it was already too late.
The following day, Greta’s body was found by staff at the Hoi An Silverbell Villa, and Arno was discovered in a nearby room. Police began investigating their deaths and found empty bottles of limoncello in their rooms.

Tests later showed that both Greta and Arno died from methanol poisoning, which was linked to the “homemade” limoncello, investigators said. A source close to the family confirmed that forensics found the limoncello was the cause.
It’s still unclear how methanol ended up in the bottles. Greta’s parents, Susan and Paul, described their daughter as “beautiful” and said they were proud of her.
“Greta and Arno were experienced travelers. They had found their perfect life in Vietnam and were very happy,” they said.

“The Vietnamese police have confirmed the cause of death as methanol poisoning, verified by the autopsy results,” Paul added. The couple had just celebrated their engagement the month before.
“We were so happy that Greta found Arno. He was a lovely guy—such a talented musician and composer,” he said. “They were a loving couple with so much ahead of them.”
Greta’s parents are now focused on finding the people responsible for providing the dangerous alcohol.

At this time, no arrests have been made, and Greta’s father, Paul, is determined to find out who supplied the fatal drink.
A spokesperson from the Foreign Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British woman who has died in Vietnam and are in contact with local authorities.”
