Fans Can’t Believe Their Eyes: Shocking Detail in New Photo of Martha Stewart at 82
|Martha Stewart is a well-known figure with many fans around the world.
However, she has faced criticism for a recent social media post during her trip to Greenland that many people are calling “tone-deaf.”
The 82-year-old received praise earlier this year when she appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in May, but her latest Instagram post has not received the same positive reactions.
On Tuesday, August 29, Stewart shared a photo from a cruise along the east coast of Greenland. The picture shows the businesswoman enjoying a cocktail and includes the caption:
“End of the first zodiac cruise from @swanhelleniccruises into a very beautiful fjord on the east coast of Greenland. We actually captured a small iceberg for our cocktails tonight.”
While Stewart likely meant no harm, many followers were upset by her comment about using a “small iceberg” for her drink, believing it was in poor taste.
Before long, Stewart’s comments section was filled with people criticizing her for mentioning a small iceberg when “ice caps are melting.”
One Instagram user wrote, “Martha, the ice caps are melting! Don’t put them in your drink.”
Another added, “I usually love Martha and her luxurious lifestyle, but wealthy people drinking iceberg cocktails while the planet is suffering is a bit tone-deaf.”
A third user commented, “So while the climate warms because of a few wealthy people, billionaires vacation to melting icebergs and scoop them up for their drinks? That sounds like something from a dystopian novel. You can’t make this stuff up!”
A fourth user remarked, “With global warming and melting ice caps, do we really need glacier ice for cocktails? Talk about being out of touch. I’ve been a fan for years, but seeing all this luxury while I struggle to buy groceries has changed my mind.”
Back in May, Stewart made history by confidently posing in bold swimsuits for the cover of *Sports Illustrated*. The then-81-year-old also shared the strict wellness routine she followed beforehand.
“I didn’t starve myself, but I didn’t eat any bread or pasta for a couple of months,” Stewart said during an appearance on the *Today* show.
“I went to Pilates every other day, and that was great; I’m still going to Pilates every other day because it’s so beneficial. I live a clean life anyway—with a good diet, exercise, and healthy skincare.”
During her keynote speech at an event in Las Vegas, Stewart talked about how fans reacted to her “authentic” cover.
“The response to it was really encouraging because it made women of all ages feel like, ‘If she can do it, then I can do it too,’” Stewart remarked.
This is the cover of the *Sports Illustrated Swimsuit* issue featuring Martha Stewart, 81, which will hit newsstands on Thursday.
