Ron’s life changed dramatically in 2019 when his son, Cameron, reportedly suffering from early stages of CTE, fatally stabbed his mother, Valerie, Ron’s wife. The situation worsened when Cameron tried to escape arrest and was shot by Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies after trying to blame Ron.

After this tragedy, Ron filed a federal wrongful death lawsuit against the sheriff’s department. The court documents claimed that Cameron was trying to surrender when the officers shot more than 20 rounds.

The legal papers also said the five officers did not provide medical help quickly to Valerie, who had multiple stab wounds.

According to a police report, officers found Valerie, 62, inside their home and then looked for Cameron after Ron, who was there during the incident, named him as the main suspect.

Officers searched the area and found Cameron outside. He told the police he had a gun and moved toward the deputies as if he was pulling out a weapon. In response, four deputies fired a total of 24 rounds, fatally wounding Cameron.

In the following years, Ron faced the challenges brought on by losing his family.

The actor has passed away at 86 and is survived by his daughters, Kirsten and Kaitland. His role as the iconic jungle hero left a lasting mark on television, making him a household name throughout his career.
