86 and Stunning: See How This ‘Hawaiian Eye’ Icon Defies Time with Her Ageless Beauty
|This talented and determined actress has lived an extraordinary life. Despite facing many challenges — including a severe stroke — she continues to inspire people with her charm and resilience. At age 70, she even directed her first movie.
Now 86, the star is best known for her role in the TV series Hawaiian Eye. After decades in Hollywood, she still captivates fans with her timeless beauty.
Born as Concetta Rosalie Ann Ingoglia, she grew up in a lively Italian family and took her father’s stage name. She began her career as a singer before appearing in small film roles.
Her big break came when Jerry Lewis cast her in Rock-a-Bye Baby (1958). This led to roles in 77 Sunset Strip and Hawaiian Eye, which made her a star.
Despite her success, Hollywood wasn’t easy for her. She once said, “This is a tough industry. I’ve always been my own person. Everybody knows that.”
She avoided the social pressures of the entertainment world, saying, “You have to go to the right parties, play the game, which I refused to do.”
Her personal life was also turbulent. In 1963, she married actor James Stacy, but the marriage ended in 1966 due to years of abuse.
In 1967, she married singer Eddie Fisher, becoming the third of his five wives. Their marriage ended in 1969 due to his substance abuse and infidelity.
Though her second marriage lasted only two years, it gave her two daughters, Joely and Tricia Leigh Fisher, who both became actresses. After these experiences, she chose not to remarry.
Raising her daughters became her focus, and their unconventional lifestyle brought them closer together. Joely once said, “We were like carni-folk,” recalling how their mom included them in her performances.
Her daughters credit her for being a loving and supportive mother. Joely described her as “an affectionate, generous, incandescent spirit of a woman.”
The family remained close, with Joely saying, “It was always the three of us against the world. She lights up when we all show up.”
However, they faced loss in 1996 when her brother Charles passed away at 63. A talented drummer and actor, he had appeared alongside her in Hawaiian Eye.
In 1998, she faced a legal battle when a court ruled she owed her former manager $4.3 million over a verbal agreement regarding her cosmetics line. She denied the claim and planned to appeal.
Despite setbacks, she remained determined. She turned to filmmaking and directed Saving Grace B. Jones, which debuted in 2012. Speaking about her achievement, she said, “I started this film at 70, so I’m very proud of my accomplishment.”
In 2016, she suffered a massive stroke. Reflecting on the ordeal, she said, “I couldn’t walk or move my whole left side.” With time and determination, she has steadily recovered.
Now living in assisted care, her daughter Joely describes her as “strong and a fighter.” In May 2023, Joely shared family photos of herself, her mother, and her sister, showing their close bond.
Fans continue to admire her on social media. Comments like “I love her!” and “Connie Stevens still has that beautiful smile!” reflect her lasting impact.
Through triumphs and challenges, Connie Stevens remains an icon of resilience, grace, and timeless beauty.
