Unveiling the Love Saga of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are famous actors, and it might surprise you to know that they’ve been married for more than 30 years.

When Kyra was just 12 years old, she met Kevin, who is 7 years older than her. She went to see a movie with her brother, which happened to star Kevin Bacon. After the movie, she got to meet him.

But it wasn’t until 10 years later that they met again while working on a movie called “Lemon Sky.” Kyra didn’t think Kevin was her type at first.

She said, “He definitely wasn’t my type. In fact, I vividly remember looking at his butt when he walked away after we first met and thinking, Well, I guess some girls like that,” Kyra admitted to Wide Open Country.

But then she changed her mind, and they got married the next year, in 1988.

They had a private wedding in Connecticut and later threw a big party at the Manhattan club called Au Bar. Kevin and Kyra, who got engaged on Christmas Eve in 1987, only invited their close friends and family to the party.

Kevin Bacon has two children. After he and Kyra got married, they had their first child, Travis Sedgwick Bacon. Then, in 1992, their second child, Sosie Ruth, was born.

Sosie is also into acting, just like her parents. She played Skye Miller in the Netflix teenage drama “13 Reasons Why.” Travis, on the other hand, is a musician who creates music on his own. He even wrote the music for a movie called “Story of a Girl,” which starred his parents.

Now, 34 years after they got married, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are celebrating their anniversary and are really happy. Their long-lasting marriage is something special, especially in Hollywood where things can be tough for couples.

Kyra once said, “If someone had told me that at 22 I was going to meet the man I was going to marry and at 23 I would marry him and have a child, I would have told them they were out of their mind,” in an interview with Redbook in 2008.

Kevin still loves his wife a lot, and they always make sure to celebrate their wedding anniversary. They often share sweet messages of love on their Instagram accounts.

But, their love story faced challenges too.

“When I felt like I was at the lowest point in my life, that’s when I met my wife, our kids were born, good things were happening. And I was able to keep supporting myself; that always gave me strength,” Bacon shared with reporters.

They went through a tough time in 2008 when they lost a lot of money. Some sources say they lost $100 million, but others say it was around $30-$40 million. This happened because of a person named Bernie Madoff, who pulled off what was called the largest Ponzi scheme in history.

Even though they faced a tough time and lost a lot of money, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick were able to get through it because they both had jobs, and they still had many important things in their lives, like their children, health, love, and a nice home.

Bacon shared with The Guardian, “It was a bad day. But pretty quickly we were able to see all the things we had as opposed to whatever we lost, and those are the biggest cliches: children, health, love, a nice home. So we got through it together. I don’t think about Madoff, like, at all.”

In a TV show called “Finding Your Roots,” Kyra found out that she and Bacon are distant cousins, ninth cousins to be exact. It might feel a bit strange, and Kevin wasn’t too thrilled about it. Kyra said she had a feeling they were related, but finding out was “a little unsettling.” However, she was okay with it as long as they weren’t first cousins.”

When PBS looked into Kevin Bacon’s family history, they found out that his ancestor was King Edward I, who fought against William Wallace. It turns out that King Edward I is Kevin’s 22nd great grandfather. Kevin joked that his family tree doesn’t get enough attention, and he also mentioned the funny coincidence that he and his wife were said to be distant cousins.

“I kind of felt like it was a joke at my expense, you know,” he said.

Even though this discovery might have been surprising, Kevin and Kyra didn’t let it bother them. They continued on with their lives, and their love for each other has only grown stronger over the years.

Recently, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have been spending more time together at their home in LA because of quarantine. Kyra mentioned to People, “I’m doing a little writing, even though I truly don’t have any sense of whether or not I’m any good at it at all. It really is about just finding something to do. Certainly, I don’t spend time with my husband reading Shakespeare, but we’re watching a lot of stuff and we’re reading. We continue to read stuff. I continue to read. I’m trying to touch into my work on a daily basis, for sure.”

Kyra also shared that no matter where they are, Kevin always makes her feel special. She said, “I don’t know how he does it, but he always makes me feel like I’m the most beautiful woman in the room – the only girl in the room.”

She also talked about the importance of intimacy in their relationship, saying, “Sex is really important. That desire is there,” in an interview with Redbook in 2012.

In 2015, Bacon gave advice on how to stay married, saying, “Whatever you do, don’t listen to celebrities on advice on how to stay married.”

Kyra, on the other hand, praised Kevin’s qualities, saying in a 2012 interview with Good Housekeeping, “He is so honorable. He is so ethically true. He has high moral standards, and he doesn’t lie and he doesn’t cheat—and I find that sexy! I am constantly in awe of Kevin’s levelheadedness and his lack of ‘crazy.'”
