Meghan Markle knows this well, and so did Princess Diana. Another person who married into the Royal Family is Queen Camilla, who became a senior member when she married King Charles.
At first, people didn’t like Camilla because they felt like she was taking Princess Diana’s place. But now, most people in Britain accept her.
Last week, Camilla and King Charles went to a ceremony in London called the Order of the British Empire. It’s a big deal and honors people who have done great things for their country.
They wore fancy clothes, like usual. But people were talking more about what Camilla was wearing under her red robe.
She had on a floral dress, beige heels, charm bracelets, and diamond earrings. Some people on the internet didn’t like her dress and called it a “house dress.”
On social media, people compared Camilla’s outfit to one worn by Queen Elizabeth II. Some comments were mean.

Another critic said, “These traditional events are bad enough, but wearing those old costumes is crazy. Why can’t they wear modern versions? They look like crazy people in those costumes. Diana would have modernized it.”
Queen Camilla has taken on more responsibility recently because her husband, King Charles, and Kate Middleton have been dealing with cancer diagnoses.
Charles and Kate have had to step back from their royal duties to focus on treatment. Other members of the Royal Family have had to step in to help. Prince William has been splitting his time between his duties and being with his wife. This means Camilla has had more pressure on her.
