Cynthia Erivo Reunited with Lost Hat from Wicked Premiere Thanks to a Devoted Fan

Nearly a year after losing one of her most iconic accessories, Cynthia Erivo is getting her beloved hat back — thanks to a kindhearted fan and a little bit of fate.

The Wicked star, 38, attended the London premiere of the musical’s film adaptation on November 18, 2024, dazzling on the red carpet in a dramatic black Schiaparelli gown paired with an equally stunning sculptural black hat. But after the event, that very hat mysteriously vanished — until now.

A Surprising Street Reunion

In a viral TikTok video posted on November 8, a fan named Clara shared the unforgettable moment she ran into Erivo on the street — and revealed that she was the one who found the lost hat almost a year earlier.

“For real?” Erivo gasped, her jaw dropping as she realized what Clara was saying. “You have the hat? Oh my God!”

Clara then showed Cynthia photos of the hat sitting on a table — and even one of herself wearing it playfully at home.

“I have it in my house! I don’t have it on me,” Clara told her.
“May I have it back, please? I thought I had lost it forever,” Erivo replied, smiling in disbelief as her team eagerly took Clara’s contact information. “Oh my goodness, you’re a lifesaver.”

The wholesome exchange quickly went viral, melting hearts across social media.

How the Lost Hat Was Found

In a follow-up video, Clara explained how she came across the now-famous accessory. She and a friend — both from Paris — had attended the Wicked premiere in London last year and returned to the theater about 30 minutes after the screening ended to look for friends.

That’s when she noticed the black sculptural hat left behind on a table. Thinking it was simply a forgotten item, she snapped a photo and decided to take it home to prevent it from being thrown away.

It wasn’t until she later sent a picture to another friend that she realized the stunning piece actually belonged to Cynthia Erivo herself.

“I kept the hat for a year and I just wanted to tell her myself — but I didn’t know how to reach her,” Clara explained in her TikTok post.

A Happy Ending Worthy of Wicked

After their chance encounter, Erivo’s team arranged to retrieve the hat. Clara lovingly placed it inside a green and pink Wicked-themed gift bag, saying:

“She’s getting the hat back today. I put it in this lovely bag, and I’m giving it back.”

The Wicked actress, who stars as Elphaba in the highly anticipated film alongside Ariana Grande, was clearly touched by the fan’s honesty and effort. The heartfelt reunion reminded fans everywhere that sometimes, even the smallest gestures — or lost hats — can create moments of real magic.

As Erivo put it best:

“May I have it back, please? I thought I had lost it forever.”
