Dad and His Twin Sons Chop 80 Truckloads of Firewood – And Give It All Away

Every now and then, you come across a story that really touches your heart.

These are the kinds of stories that stand out, where someone goes out of their way to help others, or simply does something kind without expecting anything in return.

Doing something good for others often brings a deep sense of happiness to the person who helps. But it’s also nice to acknowledge people who genuinely try to make the world a better place.

Shane McDaniel and his twin sons, Henry and Harrison, are among these good-hearted people. Shane grew up spending time cutting firewood with his father, and when his sons turned 21, he was excited to pass on the tradition to them.

The family, who lives in Lake Stevens, Washington, had a big job ahead of them after a powerful storm.

As Shane explained: “I had a lot of wood to cut because of storm damage and fallen trees. It just kept building up. Once we had so much wood, we decided we could do something better with it.”

Together, they came up with a plan that would not only help them clear the wood but also benefit others in need.

Shane, speaking to PEOPLE Magazine, said: “The Pacific Northwest is a tough area. It’s cold and rainy. Once I started working, I saw how much people needed firewood. So many people stopped and asked to buy it, and we just started giving it away.”

The project lasted from March to October 2018, during which time Shane, Henry, and Harrison chopped enough firewood to fill 80 trucks.

Shane posted a message on Facebook asking for help in collecting the wood. They had more firewood than they knew what to do with.

The post quickly got a lot of attention. People were amazed by the family’s generosity, and some even offered to help deliver firewood to those who couldn’t pick it up themselves.

“It’s such a wonderful thing to see,” Shane said. “You can see the pride and happiness in people when they help. They feel good about doing something for others.”

“When you do good things for people, they don’t forget. I love helping people.”
