Dodgers Pitcher Alex Vesia Mourns Death of Infant Daughter ‘You’re With Us Always’

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife, Kayla, are mourning an unimaginable loss — the death of their baby daughter, Sterling Sol, who passed away on Sunday, October 26. The heartbreaking news came just days after the team announced that Vesia would not participate in the World Series due to a “deeply personal family matter.”

“Our Little Angel, We Love You Forever”

In an emotional Instagram post, the couple shared their grief with fans and the baseball community:

“Our little angel, we love you forever, and you’re with us always,” Alex and Kayla wrote.
“Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday, October 26. There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through, but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.”

The post was accompanied by a tender photo of Sterling’s tiny hand — a moment the couple said they will “treasure forever.”

A Team United in Grief

Just two days earlier, the Dodgers had confirmed that Vesia would not be active for the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, citing a private family situation. After news of Sterling’s passing became public, both teams paid tribute to the pitcher and his family by wearing Vesia’s No. 51 on their hats during pregame warm-ups.

“Our baseball family showed up for us, and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them,” the Vesias wrote. “Thank you, Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization, and all baseball fans for your love and support. We’ve seen all your messages, comments, and posts — they’ve brought us so much comfort.”

Gratitude Amid Heartbreak

The family also expressed deep appreciation to the hospital staff who cared for them through their tragedy, describing them as “truly so incredible.”

“We’ll never forget the kindness, compassion, and strength shown to us during our most difficult days,” they added.

Remembering Sterling Sol

While the Dodgers organization has not released additional details, tributes have poured in from across Major League Baseball, with fans and players posting heartfelt messages of condolence and solidarity for the young couple.

Vesia, 28, joined the Dodgers in 2021 and quickly became one of the team’s most consistent relief pitchers — known for his passion on the mound and connection with fans.

Today, that same community is rallying around him in grief, reminding him that no family ever faces heartbreak alone.

“She’ll always be with us,” Alex wrote in closing. “Always.”
