Sheryl Crow, known for songs like “Soak Up The Sun,” is ready to move on from her Tesla, and it’s all about Elon Musk. The famous singer has decided to part ways with her electric car due to Musk’s support of former President Donald Trump.
On Friday, Crow posted a video on Instagram where she stands on the street as her Tesla is towed away. The song “Time To Say Goodbye” by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman plays in the background. Crow waves goodbye, and in her caption, she writes, “My parents always said… you are who you hang out with.”
Crow goes on to explain, “There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla.” She also mentions that she donated money to NPR, which Musk has been critical of. She hopes that this helps keep the truth reaching those who want to know it.
The comments refer to Musk’s involvement in Washington, where he has been aligned with President Trump’s administration. Musk, who is the richest person in the world, heads a new department called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to reduce the size of the U.S. government.
Sheryl Crow has been outspoken about her disapproval of Trump in the past. She said in a 2017 interview with The Sydney Morning Herald that Trump’s actions divide the country and harm America. “How can someone work every single day to make sure the country is divided? It breaks my heart,” Crow said. She also expressed that much of what Trump stands for goes against the values America was built on.
Crow has made it clear she doesn’t agree with the direction Musk and Trump are taking, and she’s choosing to make a stand by letting go of her Tesla.
