Elon Musk’s DOGE Website Hacked—Sensitive Info Leaked!

Elon Musk’s DOGE website seems to have been hacked, with tech experts saying the site looks rushed and full of errors.

Musk was appointed by former President Donald Trump to lead the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). His job was to cut government waste, reduce unnecessary rules, and restructure federal agencies.

The website officially launched on Wednesday, February 12. Musk promised that the department would be “maximally transparent” after some critics pointed out the irony of the world’s richest man being in charge of cutting spending while his companies, like SpaceX, benefit from federal funding.

Musk claimed, “I don’t know of a case where an organization has been more transparent than the DOGE organization,” while speaking with Trump in the Oval Office.

However, the website was hacked just two days later, on Friday, February 14. Reports say that two of its pages were targeted.

One hacker left a message on the site saying, “THESE ‘EXPERTS’ LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN – roro.”

Another message read, “This is a joke of a .gov site.”

Both messages have since been deleted.

Tech experts who analyzed the website said it appeared to be rushed and poorly made, with many mistakes and leaked details in the code. They also suspected the site was not running on government servers.

In addition to the hack, reports say the website also leaked classified staffing information from a US intelligence agency. The site had a function that allowed users to track government spending and check the number of staff and salaries in different agencies.

A note on the website claimed that military, Postal Service, White House, and other intelligence agencies were excluded from the data. However, one intelligence agency was listed—the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). This is significant because Musk’s SpaceX has a $1.8 billion contract to build spy satellites for the NRO.

SpaceX also has around $15 billion in contracts with NASA, raising concerns about whether Musk’s involvement in DOGE could create a conflict of interest.

NASA’s acting administrator, Janet Petro, said the agency has “very strict conflict of interest policies” and that their legal team would review any potential issues.

Meanwhile, since Musk took over DOGE, the department has fired thousands of federal workers while doubling its own spending.

Government records show that by January, the department had spent $6.75 million. That number jumped to $14.4 million by February 8.
