Kid Rock has made headlines many times for his bold opinions. He doesn’t hesitate to speak up, even in the middle of a performance.

The singer of All Summer Long joined Bon Jovi’s David Bryan for a birthday celebration on February 8, 2025, in Nashville. But in a surprising moment, Kid Rock walked off the stage before finishing his song!

Why? He thought the crowd wasn’t clapping enough. During his performance, he told the audience to clap. But when he felt they weren’t doing it properly, he got frustrated and left before the song was over.

The 54-year-old singer was angry. In videos from the event, he can be heard cursing, saying, “F— them. F— them. Hey, hey, stop. If you ain’t gonna clap, we ain’t gonna sing. That’s how it’s gonna go.”

The party was for Bon Jovi’s keyboardist, who turned 63 on February 7, 2025. The event was held at Nashville’s JBJ venue, owned by Jon Bon Jovi.

Kid Rock surprised everyone with his appearance. At first, the audience cheered as he sang Proud Mary by Creedence Clearwater Revival, as seen in fan videos online.

Everything seemed fine until two minutes into the performance. Kid Rock suddenly stopped singing and told his band to stop playing too. He asked the crowd to clap and even showed them how he wanted it done.

“F— them. F— them. Hey, hey, stop,” he repeated, according to videos. “If you ain’t gonna clap, we ain’t gonna sing. That’s how it’s gonna go.”

The crowd started clapping as he asked, but after a minute, he stopped again.

“You know what, f— y’all. You ain’t gonna clap, I’m gone,” he said before storming off the stage.

In the video, David Bryan looks confused, making hand gestures before turning to talk to another band member as Kid Rock walks away.

Despite this moment, it didn’t seem to ruin the night for Bryan. He later posted a video from the event on Instagram with the caption, “THANK YOU FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES! Rocking at @jbjsnash last night with @bigkennytv!”

Kid Rock recently performed at the Make America Great Again Victory Rally celebrating President Donald Trump’s inauguration. Other artists at the event included Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, the Village People, and Billy Ray Cyrus.

In an interview, Kid Rock said he and Donald Trump had a lot in common because they both wanted what was best for the country. He once joked that Trump had made him the “Head of the Liquor Cabinet.”

“I like to win. I don’t sugarcoat things,” he said in the interview. “I say things the way I see them. Sometimes I might be wrong. But I believe in forgiveness.”

Next month, Kid Rock will start his tour for his album Bad Reputation, which was released in 2022.
