Lauren Boebert Faces Backlash Over Offensive Halloween Costume Featuring Racist Joke
Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is facing fierce backlash online after attending a Halloween party in Loveland, Colorado, wearing a costume that many are calling racist and insensitive.
The controversial Colorado Republican showed up at the event alongside her boyfriend, Kyle Pearcy, dressed in matching outfits that quickly sparked outrage on social media.
The Costume That Sparked Outrage

Photos from the Friday night party show Boebert wearing a traditional Mexican-style dress and a sombrero, while holding a chalkboard featuring the message:
“Mexican Word of the Day: JUICY. Tell me if Juicy Ice coming.”
The phrase — a play on the accented pronunciation of “you see” — was widely criticized as a crude and racist stereotype, mocking the way some native Spanish speakers pronounce English words.
Adding to the controversy, Boebert’s boyfriend, Kyle Pearcy, dressed as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent, standing beside her in full uniform gear. The pairing of costumes was immediately slammed by witnesses and social media users alike as offensive and tasteless.
Eyewitnesses Call It “Disgusting”
An attendee at the party told TMZ that Pearcy “was walking around by Lauren’s side all night like a puppy,” and described the couple’s costume as “disgusting.”
“They were sitting with a nice Latino couple who left immediately after seeing what they were wearing,” the eyewitness added.
Online, the reaction was swift and unforgiving. Thousands of users condemned the congresswoman’s choice, calling the costume prejudiced, disrespectful, and tone-deaf — especially for an elected official representing a diverse state.
One viral post read:
“Imagine mocking an entire culture while your boyfriend dresses as the people who deport them. You can’t make this up.”

Boebert’s Response: “It’s a Halloween Costume”
Despite the backlash, Boebert’s team is standing by her costume. In a statement to TMZ, her spokesperson dismissed the outrage as political noise, saying:
“It’s a Halloween costume. Tell our Senators to vote for the CR and open the government. They are choosing to let millions of American families suffer.”
Critics, however, argue that the response completely ignores the nature of the backlash — accusing Boebert of deflecting blame and refusing to acknowledge why the costume offended so many.
A Pattern of Controversy

This is far from the first time Lauren Boebert has landed in hot water. The outspoken congresswoman has built a reputation for her provocative behavior and inflammatory statements, often making headlines for her unapologetic style and culture-war rhetoric.
Still, the Halloween incident has reignited criticism of her judgment — and her tone-deaf approach to sensitive cultural issues.
As one commenter put it:
“When you’re a member of Congress, your ‘costume’ sends a message. And this one sent the wrong one.”
