My Fiancée Wore Black at Our Wedding – The Truth Will Blow Your Mind
|Standing at the altar, Nathan eagerly waited for his fiancée, Jane, to walk down the aisle in the white gown they had picked out together. But when she appeared in a long black dress and revealed why she didn’t wear her wedding gown, his life changed forever.
My wedding day was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of my life, but it left me with a deep wound. I never imagined things would end like this.
I met Jane through a friend, and after a few dates, we became inseparable. She was outgoing and surrounded by friends, while I was quiet and preferred to be alone.
But with Jane, things were different.
I loved being around her because she made me feel special. She appreciated me and never made me feel like I wasn’t enough.
A few months later, I proposed. I knew Jane was the one, and she said yes with a huge smile.
“I can’t believe you said yes,” I told her one day. “I’m so lucky to have you, Jane.”
I didn’t think I deserved someone as amazing as her.
As time passed, our bond only grew stronger, and we decided to get married.
Our families met, and everything went smoothly. We planned a small summer wedding with close family and friends.
Everything seemed perfect—until the wedding day.
I stood at the altar in a black suit, waiting for Jane to arrive in the beautiful white dress we had chosen together.
But she didn’t.
Instead, she walked in wearing a long black dress with a matching veil, looking like she was attending a funeral.
Why was she doing this? What was going on?
Her eyes were filled with anger as she approached me, while the guests looked at her in shock.
When she reached me, I gently took her hands and whispered, “Why are you wearing black? What’s happening?”
“I’ll tell you after the ceremony,” she replied, staring at me with a blank expression, as if I had done something unforgivable.
“Wait!” I said, raising my hand.
The church fell silent.
“Tell me why you’re wearing black now,” I demanded, not knowing her answer would change everything.
“It’s because of your mother,” Jane said. “She told me everything.”
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
Jane’s eyes filled with tears.
“She told me about you and Lauren,” Jane said, her voice shaking. “Your best friend.”
“What? What did she say about Lauren?” I was confused.
“She said you’ve been cheating on me with Lauren,” Jane announced, and the crowd gasped. “She said you two are having an affair and that you’re planning to leave me for her. That’s why I’m wearing black, to mourn the love we once had.”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
“That’s not true, Jane,” I pleaded. “I’ve never cheated on you. Lauren and I are just friends. I don’t know why my mom would say that.”
I searched for my mother in the crowd, but she was gone. I wanted to confront her and prove she was lying.
“I don’t believe you,” Jane said. “You’ve always been a liar.”
“Please, Jane,” I begged, reaching for her hand, but she pulled away. “Mom never liked you. She’s trying to ruin our relationship. You have to trust me.”
“It’s not just about the affair, Nathan,” Jane said. “I know your secret. You’ve been lying to me.”
“What secret?” I asked.
Jane looked around the church before locking eyes with me.
“You lied about your family’s finances,” she said. “You hid the fact that your family is bankrupt and that you’re marrying me for my money. Isn’t that true?”
Oh no.
What Jane said was partly true. My family business was struggling, and we were almost bankrupt. But I wasn’t marrying her for money!
I loved her, and that was why I wanted to marry her. I just didn’t know how to explain it.
“Jane, listen,” I said. “Let me explain—”
“Explain what?” she interrupted. “That your mother pushed you to find a wealthy woman to save your family? I can’t believe I fell in love with someone like you!”
I wanted to explain everything, but no words came out.
“It’s over, Nathan,” Jane said before walking out of the church.
As she left, the guests whispered among themselves, and my friends rushed over. But I couldn’t let her go without explaining.
“Jane, wait!” I yelled, running after her. “Please, listen to me.”
“I don’t want to hear any more lies, Nathan,” she said, not even turning around.
I stood in front of her, blocking her path.
“I’m not lying,” I insisted. “I don’t know why Mom said all those things, but I think it’s because she never liked you. She wasn’t happy with us being together.”
“And why should I believe you, Nathan?”
Before I could answer, Lauren walked out of the church.
“Jane, listen,” Lauren said. “Nathan and I are just friends. He loves you, and there’s nothing going on between us. Trust me.”
Jane looked between Lauren and me, unsure of who to believe.
“If I was marrying you for your money, I wouldn’t have signed the prenup,” I said, holding her hands. “I signed it because I wanted to protect your future. I wouldn’t have done that if I only cared about your money.”
“Then why did you hide your family’s financial problems?” she asked. “What else are you hiding?”
I sighed deeply.
“You’re right, Jane. I should’ve told you about my family’s situation, but I was afraid you’d leave me.” I hesitated before continuing, “There’s something else I never told you.”
Jane folded her arms, waiting.
“My mom hates me,” I confessed. “Years ago, I found out my father wasn’t my biological dad, and when I confronted my mom, everything fell apart. My dad left, taking all the money with him.”
“She lied to you because she wanted to ruin our wedding,” I continued. “She can’t stand seeing me happy. I’m sorry for keeping this from you.”
Jane’s anger faded, replaced by sympathy.
“You didn’t tell me because you were embarrassed?” she asked. “We were supposed to start a life together, Nathan, but you’ve been hiding so much. How can I trust you?”
I knew she was right. I should have been honest from the start.
“I’m sorry, Jane,” I said, looking down. “I love you.”
“I’m sorry too, Nathan,” she replied, wiping away her tears. “But I can’t be with someone who keeps secrets.”
And with that, Jane, the love of my life, walked away.
Tears filled my eyes as I watched her drive away. I couldn’t stop her because I knew she was right.
Since that day, my life has never been the same. I confronted my mother and cut ties with her, but Jane never answered my calls.
I lost the woman I loved because of lies, betrayal, and secrets I should never have kept.
