North Carolina Family of Four Dies While Escaping Deadly Hurricane
|The fiancé’s sister shared the heartbreaking news, expressing the deep pain of losing her brother, his fiancée, and her children.
Four precious family members lost their lives when Hurricane Helene struck. They were trying to flee the storm on Friday, September 27, 2024, but tragically didn’t make it to safety.
Alison Wisely, her two young sons, Felix and Lucas, and her fiancé, Knox Petrucci, were from Green Mountain, North Carolina. They were trying to evacuate when their car began to float in the rising floodwaters.
As the flooding got worse, they had to leave their car and tried to walk back to their house. Sadly, a huge wave swept them into the nearby Toe River.
A man who saw the tragic event tried to warn the family not to go near the water and later tried to help them escape, but sadly, his efforts didn’t work.
He later identified the family after being shown their photos. Emergency responders found the family’s car far from the road, near the river. When they searched the house, they found it empty, except for a dog that was left inside.
Alison’s body was found on October 4, 2024, in Tennessee, and her two sons, Felix and Lucas, were found the next day. On October 7, 2024, after many agencies worked hard to find him, Knox’s body was also recovered, allowing him to be with his family.
Alison was known for her wisdom and the deep love she had for her children. She was a caring mother who encouraged Felix and Lucas to be creative and imaginative. As the Sanctuary Operations Manager at Carolina Memorial Sanctuary, she helped others through their grief with kindness and understanding.
Knox was a beekeeper and manager at Honey and the Hive in Weaverville. He was also a talented musician and artist. Known for his passion for protecting the Earth and bees, Knox lived a genuine life, always supporting his friends and family with endless love.
A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help support the memorial services and the grieving family members. Although the Carolina Memorial Sanctuary has kindly taken care of the funeral expenses, any extra funds raised will go towards honoring the lives of Alison, Knox, Felix, and Lucas and assisting others affected by the storm.
Nine-year-old Felix was a curious and bright boy. He loved learning about the world, especially things that were magical and mysterious, like creatures others didn’t believe in. He was also fascinated by tornadoes and hurricanes. Felix and his mother even created a podcast together about folklore and the supernatural called *Beyond Legend*.
The family lived near the river in the North Carolina mountains, where they built a life filled with love, music, creativity, and nature. Alison and Knox were planning to celebrate their wedding on November 9. Now, their loved ones are heartbroken as they mourn the loss of this beautiful family.
Felix’s brother, Lucas, 7, was a kind and creative child. He brought joy to everyone with his sense of humor and warmth. Lucas loved wearing superhero costumes and sparkly accessories. He had a special love for cows and was known for giving the best cuddles.
The heartbreak experienced by their loved ones is beyond words. The family has expressed their gratitude for the love, support, and prayers they’ve received during this difficult time. They have also taken a moment to honor and remember Alison, Knox, Felix, and Lucas.
