Post Malone’s CMA Performance Sparks Outrage: Fans Call It ‘Terrible

Post Malone’s performance at the CMA Awards caused a lot of reactions online. While some people appreciated his emotional performance, others had strong opinions about it.

On November 20, 2024, Post Malone took the stage at the 58th Annual Country Music Association Awards. He performed his latest song with an acoustic setup that included violins and guitars. Malone wore a purple embroidered suit and cowboy hat, fitting into the country theme of the evening. However, his performance got mixed reactions, with many viewers expressing disappointment.

One popular comment on social media said, “Beautiful lyrics but man… that was hard to listen to!” Another person wrote, “His voice was weak tonight.” A different fan called it the “worst performance I’ve ever seen from him.” One commenter added, “I love Post, but that was really off today which made me sad.” Another fan said, “Great song. Not so great singer.”

The criticism kept coming. One person bluntly stated, “Well, I mean he is talentless anyway.” Another viewer said, “Off key, off pitch. Is that how he always sounds? I can’t figure out why he’s famous. Tonight was my first time hearing him sing.” While many fans were disappointed, some still liked the song but called the performance “terrible.”

Not everyone was negative, though. Some fans praised Malone’s creativity. One person wrote, “Posty made this song!! Gotta love him for his talent. Welcome to country music.”

Before his solo performance, Malone had already opened the awards show with a high-energy performance alongside Chris Stapleton. They performed “California Sober,” a song from Malone’s album “F-1 Trillion,” which set a lively tone for the evening.

Malone’s move into country music has been a long time coming. Back in 2015, he tweeted, “WHEN I TURN 30 I’M BECOMING A COUNTRY/FOLK SINGER.” Now at 29, the rapper-turned-singer is starting to fulfill that goal.

His album “F-1 Trillion,” released earlier this year, features 18 tracks, including collaborations with country stars like Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, and Brad Paisley.

Malone has always loved country music, influenced by his mom’s favorites, like Hank Williams and George Strait, and his dad’s love for ’90s country stars such as Brad Paisley and Tim McGraw. These influences eventually led him to Nashville, where he worked with some of country’s biggest names.

In 2022, Malone made it clear that he doesn’t want to be limited by musical genres. On “The Howard Stern Show,” he said, “There’s nothing stopping me from making a country album and putting it on YouTube.” However, he admitted that his busy schedule of concerts and family obligations made it hard to focus on making a full country album. He mentioned that if he ever had a year to himself, he might finally be able to create a country album.
