Rob Reiner and Wife Michele’s Son Nick Arrested in Connection with Parents’ Stabbing Deaths
Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, has been arrested on murder charges in connection with the deaths of his parents, authorities confirmed.
According to a representative for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, Nick Reiner was initially taken into custody and booked at Parker Center Jail in downtown Los Angeles before being transferred to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, where he is currently being held without bail.
Law enforcement officials have not released additional details regarding the investigation at this time.

Deaths Discovered at Brentwood Home
News of the couple’s deaths broke on Sunday, when Rob and Michele Reiner were found deceased at their Brentwood, California, residence. Emergency responders pronounced both victims dead at the scene.
Authorities later identified Nick Reiner as a person of interest, and following further investigation, he was formally arrested. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether charges will be amended or if additional suspects are being considered.
Rob Reiner was 78, while Michele Singer Reiner was 70 at the time of their deaths.
Family Requests Privacy Amid Tragedy
In a statement released through Variety, family members described themselves as “heartbroken” by the sudden loss.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” the family said.
“We ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
Representatives for Rob Reiner did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
In addition to Nick, the couple is survived by their daughter Romy Reiner, son Jake Reiner, and Rob Reiner’s daughter Tracy Reiner from a previous marriage.

Nick Reiner’s Past Struggles and Creative Collaboration
Nick Reiner has previously spoken openly about his long-term struggle with substance abuse, which began in his teenage years. In 2015, he collaborated with his father on the semi-autobiographical film Being Charlie, which explored addiction and fractured family relationships.
During promotion for the project, Nick told the Los Angeles Times that he was exhausted by years of repeated rehabilitation attempts.

“I come from a nice family,” he said at the time. “I’m not supposed to be out there on the streets or in shelters doing all these things.”
Rob Reiner later described the project as emotionally difficult but meaningful, noting it helped him better understand his son’s experiences.
A Case Still Under Investigation
Authorities emphasize that the case remains under active investigation, and no trial date has been announced. As with all criminal proceedings, Nick Reiner is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Further updates are expected as prosecutors review evidence and determine next steps.
