Scammer dupes woman into thinking she is dating Brad Pitt, AI-Generated Brad Pitt Fools Woman Into Divorcing Husband and Losing £697,000!
|A scammer tricked a French woman into sending them hundreds of thousands of pounds by pretending to be Brad Pitt using fake AI-generated images.
The 53-year-old woman ended up giving away 830,000 euros (£697,000), thinking she was helping the actor pay for cancer treatment.

She told French channel TF1 that it all started when she got a message on social media from someone claiming to be Brad Pitt’s mother. This happened after she shared photos of her luxury ski trip to Tignes on Instagram.
The next day, another message came from an account pretending to be Brad Pitt. The message said his mother had told him about her.

The woman, who said she was having problems with her millionaire husband, started chatting with the account in February 2023. She received poems and kind messages that felt very thoughtful.
“There are so few men who say these kinds of things. I liked the man I was talking to. He knew how to speak to women, and it was always done so well,” she said, as reported by BFMTV.

At first, she thought the account might be fake, but they messaged every day, and the scammer sent AI-made photos and videos of Brad Pitt. Over time, this made her feel more comfortable.
Things took a romantic turn when the fake Brad Pitt proposed to her and promised expensive gifts. But he told her she needed to pay customs fees to receive them.
This started with 9,000 euros (£7,566).

After she showed she was willing to pay, the scammer kept asking for more money with bigger and more unbelievable requests.
When the woman mentioned she was expecting a big divorce settlement from her husband, the scammer raised the stakes.
They asked for help to pay for urgent kidney cancer treatment, saying they couldn’t use their own money because of a divorce from Angelina Jolie.

The scammer sent more AI-generated photos, including ones showing Brad Pitt in a hospital bed.
They only communicated through text messages and photos. The scammer always had excuses for not being able to make a phone call, a common sign of online scams.
In the end, she gave nearly one million euros before becoming suspicious. Her doubts grew after she saw news of the real Brad Pitt with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon.
She reported the scam to authorities, who started an investigation.

It’s unclear if she got any of her money back, even though the scam happened nearly two years ago.
BFMTV reported that the woman is now in a clinic for severe depression.
Many people who followed the story expressed sympathy for her.

Sarah Bee wrote on X: “Romance scams are the cruellest.”
Another person wondered why the woman didn’t check online to see if Brad Pitt was really in the hospital.

One user added: “This is why you need to know what your older relatives are doing before they give away your inheritance to Brad Pitt.”

Another comment came from Jay Kennedy: “My stepmom won’t stop sending money to the cello player. My dad and I keep telling her, but she keeps buying gift cards. It’s sad how lonely and lost some people get to believe these things.”
