Snoop Dogg, Reba, Bublé & Niall Gear Up for The Voice Season 28 — And Season 29 Might Already Be in Motion
|🎬 The Voice Season 28 Begins Filming in July — and Season 29 Is Quietly Taking Shape Behind the Scenes
Get ready, Voice fans! Final preparations are in full swing as Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé, and Niall Horan gear up to take their seats as celebrity coaches for the highly anticipated Season 28 of NBC’s The Voice.
The new season, set to air from September through December 2025, kicks off with Blind Auditions filmed at the show’s iconic Universal City soundstage in California. But just as excitement builds for Season 28, a major behind-the-scenes clue is signaling something even bigger: Season 29 is already in the works.
🎟️ Blind Auditions for Season 29 Quietly Announced
In a surprising move, NBC’s ticketing partner 1iota released audience tickets for Season 29 Blind Auditions—despite the network not officially confirming the next season.
According to the June 23 update, The Voice will hold Season 29 tapings at the same Universal City location on:
-
July 21, 2025 (10:45 a.m. & 4:00 p.m.)
-
July 22, 2025 (10:30 a.m. & 3:45 p.m.)
-
July 23, 2025 (10:30 a.m. & 3:45 p.m.)
While coach details are still under wraps, the ticket announcement reads:
“Music fans, rejoice: The Voice is returning for Season 29! Four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series The Voice returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the show’s newest season.”
This move mirrors recent trends, with NBC filming two seasons back-to-back in a compressed production window — optimizing time, costs, and momentum between seasons.
📅 What the New Filming Schedule Means
According to former coach John Legend, who wrapped up his 10th season earlier this year, this back-to-back filming approach is now standard.
“The way we’re taping these days, we do two seasons per, like, summer and early fall,” Legend told Kelly Clarkson on her talk show in February 2025.
“So even when you’re away, you’re really not away.”
For Season 28, the coaches will record four consecutive days of Blind Auditions — July 6, 7, 8, and 9 — with two tapings each day. This is slightly more intensive than the three-day schedule planned for Season 29, which may hint at a new coach lineup or format twist.
🎙️ For Contestants, It’s a Long Road to the Spotlight
While this production model may be efficient for the network and coaches, contestants endure a much longer journey before viewers ever see their Blind Auditions.
Season 27 runner-up Jaelen Johnston, for example, recently revealed the process took nearly two years. Speaking in his hometown of Derby, Kansas, the 22-year-old explained that he attended an “open audition call back” in September 2023, followed by 15 Zoom interviews, and was eventually flown to L.A. for tapings in July 2024.
Jaelen earned three chair turns from Kelsea Ballerini, Adam Levine, and Michael Bublé, ultimately choosing Ballerini as his coach. But despite the excitement, he was sworn to secrecy until Season 27 premiered in February 2025.
🔥 What’s Next for The Voice?
With Snoop Dogg, Reba, Bublé, and Niall Horan confirmed for Season 28, expectations are sky-high for what could be the most entertaining season yet. And now, with tapings scheduled for Season 29, fans can rest assured — The Voice isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
While we wait to hear which celebrities will spin their chairs for Season 29, one thing is clear: NBC is all in on keeping the music, drama, and talent coming.
