‘Trailer Park Boys’ Star Mike Smith Faces Sexual Assault Charges in Canada
Mike Smith, best known to millions of fans as Bubbles from the hit comedy series Trailer Park Boys, has been charged with sexual assault in Canada, according to multiple reports.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) confirmed that Smith was charged earlier this month in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in connection with an alleged incident that dates back to 2017. Court documents reportedly show that Smith has been ordered not to contact the alleged victim or visit any location connected to them, including their home, school, or workplace.
In response to the reports, Trailer Park Boys Inc. issued an official statement confirming that Smith has stepped away from his position as managing director of the company.

“We are aware of the allegation concerning Mike Smith dating back to 2017 and take such matters seriously. We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case,” the company said.
Smith, 52, is one of the most recognizable faces from Trailer Park Boys, the cult mockumentary series that originally aired in 2001. Playing the iconic role of Bubbles, the thick-glassed, soft-hearted cat lover, Smith appeared in over 100 episodes of the show, which ran until 2007 and later gained global popularity after being picked up by Netflix in 2014.
The streaming platform revived the series with five additional seasons and several feature-length specials, turning the small Canadian comedy into a worldwide phenomenon. In January 2025, Smith announced that Season 13 of Trailer Park Boys was in production and slated for release in April 2026 — though the status of that season now remains unclear following the new charges.

This isn’t the actor’s first legal controversy. Back in 2016, Smith was arrested in Los Angeles after allegedly pinning a woman against a wall during an argument. However, the Los Angeles City Attorney declined to prosecute, citing insufficient evidence at the time.
As of now, Smith’s representatives — including Trailer Park Boys creator Mike Clattenburg, Paquin Entertainment Group, Trailer Park Boys+, and the Jones Entertainment Group — have not issued any public comment regarding the latest developments.
Fans of the long-running comedy have expressed both shock and disappointment online, as the once-beloved actor now faces serious allegations that could cast a shadow over the show’s legacy.
