Charlize Theron Brings Daughters Jackson, 14, and August, 12, to The Odyssey NYC Premiere in Chic Family Night Out
The Oscar-winning actress made a striking entrance alongside her two daughters, who are rarely seen in public, capturing the attention of admirers.
On Tuesday night, Charlize Theron graced the New York City premiere of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ with her daughters, Jackson Theron, 14, and August Theron, 12.
Though the girls typically stay out of the limelight, their latest outing showcased their unique fashion choices, prompting enthusiastic reactions from onlookers.
While the star-studded event could have been another solo appearance for Charlize, she chose to share the moment with her daughters, whom she often describes as her greatest joy.
Since Jackson and August rarely join their mother at major events, their appearance together added a personal touch to the evening and provided a rare glimpse of Charlize’s family life.
In the premiere photos, the trio appeared relaxed as they posed in complementary outfits featuring a sleek black-and-white color scheme. Charlize opted for white, while both daughters donned black ensembles tailored to their styles.
Charlize dazzled in a white mini dress embellished with oversized bows, complemented by strappy heels, a gold choker, and a vibrant red lip that exuded classic Hollywood style. In contrast, Jackson chose a sophisticated off-the-shoulder black outfit matched with black wedge heels.
August also made a statement in black, pairing her dress with knee-high socks and Doc Martens, which lent her look a youthful and playful vibe distinct from her sister’s more elegant choice.

As images circulated online, attention quickly shifted from Charlize’s outfit to her daughters. One Instagram user commented, ‘Beautiful gorgeous girl. This is how GIRLS must look like. Not like Kim Kardashian 😵💫.’ Another follower predicted, ‘Future supermodel sooo pretty [sic].’ A third user praised, ‘Her girl’s gorgeous 💕 [sic].’
The praise continued on Facebook, with one person exclaiming, ‘The beauty of both is impressive .. 🤩’ and another saying, ‘Wow, how perfect and divine the daughter is.’ An additional admirer remarked, ‘How beautiful that girl is… and even more so when she grows up 😍.’
While the comments highlighted their appearances, the evening also underscored Charlize’s long-standing commitment to allowing her daughters to develop themselves outside of relentless public scrutiny.
This dedication explains why such public appearances are quite rare. Although the actress has openly discussed her journey into motherhood, she usually focuses on her personal experiences rather than turning Jackson and August into public figures.
Charlize welcomed Jackson into her life in 2012 and followed with August three years later. In a 2018 interview, she shared that adoption was always part of her vision for building a family.
Her upbringing in South Africa, where she witnessed the needs of orphans in her community, significantly influenced her decision long before she became a parent.
Charlize revealed, ‘Even when I was in relationships, I was always honest with my partners, that adoption was how my family would look one day. This was definitely not a second option for me. It was always my first.’
In that same interview, she acknowledged the challenges of motherhood, including sleepless nights and the trials of potty training, but also found humor in the hectic moments.
She recounted the nights spent changing pajamas and sheets while her youngest was learning to use the potty, yet she asserted she wouldn’t trade those moments for anything.
Her desire to have more than one child came with the typical affection and sibling rivalry. She fondly remembered being moved when August, as a younger sibling, would follow Jackson around with hugs and devotion.
This serene phase eventually transitioned into sibling disagreements when August learned she didn’t have to comply with Jackson’s every request.
‘Now the baby is almost 3 and realizes she doesn’t have to do everything her sibling tells her,’ she laughed. ‘There’s a lot of wars in my house. I’m like, ‘Where’s the cute period that we went through?’
A year later, Charlize addressed the public discourse regarding Jackson, emphasizing her role as a listener rather than imposing her child’s identity. Initially, Jackson was publicly identified as a boy after her adoption.
Charlize described how that perception changed when Jackson, at the age of three, corrected her. ‘Yes, I thought she was a boy, too,’ Charlize shared with the Daily Mail. ‘Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said: ‘I am not a boy!”
In response, she made it clear that she would fully support her daughters’ identities, stating, ‘So there you go! I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive.’

She continued, ‘They were born who they are, and who they want to be as they grow up is not for me to decide.’ Charlize expressed her intention to celebrate and love them while ensuring they have everything they need to pursue their dreams.
Charlize also committed to safeguarding their right to express themselves openly, reflecting values instilled by her mother, who taught her to reject silence and embrace honesty.
‘I was taught by my mom that you have to speak up; you have to know that when this life is over, you’ll have lived the truth you’re comfortable with, and that nothing negative can come from that,’ she shared.
These insights add depth to the photos from the recent premiere. However, the visual gallery captures their journey more profoundly than any single public appearance could, showcasing how the two girls have evolved while largely remaining out of Hollywood’s limelight.
