Vivian attributes much of her strength during the transition to her mother, who has backed her decisions regarding college and her public presence, even if it sometimes creates stress, ultimately honoring her independence.
The relationship between Vivian and Elon remains strained. When she began her transition, they hadn’t spoken for months, yet she was required to get his consent for hormone therapy — a moment that highlighted the complications of her journey within their fractured family.
