Mother and 11-Year-Old Daughter Identified in Devastating Medical Jet Crash
|On January 30, a medical jet flying from the United States to Mexico crashed over Philadelphia, killing all six people on board.
The jet was carrying a mother and her daughter, who had undergone life-saving surgery at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia. Also on board were a doctor and a paramedic. Two pilots were flying the jet.
Before the crash, the plane had climbed to about 1,500 feet in the air.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker said in a statement, according to BBC News: “A terrible plane crash happened in Northeast Philadelphia near Roosevelt Mall at Cottman and Bustleton Avenues on Friday evening, January 31, 2025, at around 6:10 pm.
“A private Learjet 55, which was a medical transport plane, took off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport with two passengers, a mother and daughter, along with four crew members. Sadly, all were killed in the crash.”
Shai Gold, a spokesperson for Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, the company that operated the flight, confirmed the tragic event.

He said the young girl had bravely fought an illness.
Officials later released the names of the mother and daughter who died. They were Lizeth Murillo Ozuna, 31, and Valentina Guzman Murillo, 11.
The other victims were identified as Dr. Raul Meza Arredondo, paramedic Rodrigo Lopez Padilla, copilot Josue de Jesus Juarez Juarez, and captain Alan Alejandro Montoya Perales.
“It’s extremely hard and very painful. Those who cared for her knew she was traveling home today, and there had even been a sendoff for her,” the hospital where Valentina was treated said in a statement.
All the victims were from Mexico.
Sadly, when the jet crashed, it created a massive fireball that burned several houses and cars. A person driving a car at that moment also lost their life, but their name has not been released yet.
