He said the company is “pausing a few events for 2025 as we look to reimagine and optimize our events slate going forward.” This means that not only the CMT Music Awards but also the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), the MTV MIAWs, and Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards in Mexico will not be taking place this year.

Although Paramount says it is still committed to creating “iconic, unforgettable performances,” fans aren’t convinced. Many believe this decision signals a major shift in the music industry.

Among all the events being paused, the cancellation of the CMT Music Awards has caused the biggest stir. Fans immediately took to social media to share their disappointment.
