Veteran Receives Home from George Strait, Proposes to Girlfriend in Emotional Moment

An Unforgettable Night of Honor, Love, and New Beginnings

At a recent concert in Pennsylvania, country music legend George Strait delivered more than just timeless hits — he delivered hope, gratitude, and a life-changing surprise.

“We’re gonna do something really special right now,” Strait told the crowd, setting the stage for a deeply emotional moment.

That “something special” was the public honoring of Retired U.S. Army Sgt. Tyler Welty, a Purple Heart recipient whose bravery and sacrifice would be celebrated not only with applause — but with the keys to a brand-new, mortgage-free home.

But the surprises didn’t stop there.

Honoring a Hero on the Big Stage

Sgt. Tyler Welty, who joined the U.S. Army in 2009, was severely injured during his second deployment in 2012 when an 82mm shell struck his vehicle. The blast left him with a traumatic brain injury, PTSD, and ongoing physical and emotional struggles. Despite all of it, Welty says:

“It was the best experience of my life. It came with many sacrifices, but it is all worth it.”

The crowd erupted with cheers and chants of “U-S-A!” as Welty stood on stage, supported by a cane in one hand and holding his girlfriend Reanna’s hand with the other. His cowboy hat waved proudly above him.

Retired General Leroy Sisco, representing the Military Warriors Support Foundation, introduced Welty to the crowd and shared details of his heroic service. Then came the moment that left everyone in awe:

“We’re going to thank this incredible hero in a very special way… by giving him and his family a beautiful, mortgage-free home!”

 A Life-Changing Gift… Followed by a Life-Changing Question

As General Sisco presented the keys to the new home, the energy in the arena shifted again. The spotlight turned to Welty — who had his own surprise planned.

With 65,000 fans watching, Welty dropped to one knee, held up a ring box, and proposed to Reanna. Overwhelmed with emotion, she said “Yes!” — and the crowd erupted into applause once again.

Later, Reanna shared a playful and touching post on Facebook:

“Yeah your man loves you, but does he love you enough to propose on stage with George Strait in front of 65,000 people?”

Moving Into Their New Forever Home

Thanks to the Military Warriors Support Foundation, Mungo Homes, and financial support from Wells Fargo, the Welty family — including their five children (ages 4 months to 15 years) — now have a place to call home.

The family was presented with their new house in Georgia in an emotional ceremony attended by Governor Brian Kemp, who shared:

“We’re so grateful for your family’s service — and certainly your service. We all know freedom is not free.”

Speaking to the media afterward, Welty called the moment:

“One of the biggest moments of my life… I was completely taken by surprise. We can’t believe this is our home. Now, I’m set for life.”
