Yoga Instructor Found Dead After he Disappeared While Heading to Blind Date, Friends Say

Tragic Update: Phoenix Yoga Instructor Found Dead Weeks After Vanishing on Blind Date

PHOENIX – Heartbreaking news has emerged from Arizona as Marcus Freiberger, a beloved yoga instructor from Phoenix, was found dead weeks after he disappeared. His body was discovered on March 19, according to the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner, although the cause of death remains under investigation, and it’s currently unclear whether foul play is involved.

Marcus, 45, was last seen on February 21 at a parking garage in Phoenix, where he reportedly went to meet someone for a blind date. That would be the last time his friends and family would hear from him.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the tragic news that Marcus is no longer with us,” his loved ones said in a statement. “Losing him feels like losing a part of ourselves.”

Marcus had recently started a new job at Melrose Yoga and was entering a hopeful chapter in his life — moving into a new home and building a fresh start alongside his loyal dog, Thomas.

“It was such a beautiful season in his life,” shared close friend Gina Zucchet. “It’s devastating to think that someone may have taken that away from him.”

Before confirmation of his death, another friend named Amber spoke out, expressing disbelief at the idea Marcus would disappear voluntarily.

“He never would have just left without a word. He wouldn’t do that,” she said.

As investigators continue their work, the Phoenix Police Department is urging anyone with information to call 602-534-2121.
