Kelly Clarkson, the first American Idol winner, amazed the world with her incredible voice and heartfelt songs. She’s known as one of the best stars to come out of the show.

But while her career soared, her relationship with Brandon Blackstock – the stepson of country star Reba McEntire – was just as emotional and full of twists as her songs.

Kelly, famous for her hit “A Moment Like This,” married Brandon, her manager, in 2013. They seemed like the perfect couple, and fans loved their chemistry.

However, in June 2020, after nearly seven years of marriage, Kelly, 42, filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

Recently, a source told Page Six that Kelly “felt single” even while married to Brandon, 48.

“During the marriage, Kelly didn’t feel like she had a real partner,” the insider said. “She felt single in many ways even while they were together.”

The divorce was messy, with fights over money, custody of their two children – River, 10, and Remington, 8 – and their $10.4 million Montana ranch.

The ranch, with its log cabins, pastures, and stunning mountain views, was meant to be a peaceful retreat. But while Kelly dreamed of relaxation there, Brandon wanted to use it as a base for his ranching business, causing a big legal fight.

Brandon had shifted from managing artists to becoming a full-time rancher. He argued that moving away would disrupt his plans.

In 2021, a judge ruled that the ranch belonged to Kelly because of their prenuptial agreement.

Court documents said, “The Montana Ranch and other properties are not owned jointly by both Parties… The Court rejects Brandon’s claim that the ranch is marital property.”

This was a big win for Kelly, but there was one issue: Brandon refused to leave. He claimed he needed time to move his ranching business.

Brandon was ordered to pay $12,500 in monthly rent to stay on the property. Finally, in June 2022, he moved out.

Kelly now has primary custody of the kids and lives in New York. In 2023, Brandon was also ordered to pay Kelly $2.6 million for mismanaging her career and making shady deals.

Talking about her divorce, Kelly told People, “Divorce is hard, especially when it’s public. It wasn’t an easy decision. I tried to make it work. I wanted it to be great, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out.”

Brandon is still living in Montana and founded Valley View Rodeo in 2023, an organization focused on preserving the western lifestyle.

Interestingly, Brandon’s executive assistant is Brittany Jones. Her LinkedIn profile says she previously worked for Kelly Clarkson under Brandon’s management. After Kelly’s management changed, Brittany began working with Brandon’s ranching business, handling office tasks and acting as his personal assistant.
