CBS Weatherman FIRED After Shocking Elon Musk ‘Nazi Salute’ Accusation—What Really Happened?
|A weather presenter from Milwaukee has lost her job at a local TV channel just 24 hours after she criticized Elon Musk on social media. Some people believed Musk had made a Nazi salute, and she called him out for it.
The Tesla billionaire, who now leads the Department of Government Efficiency, caused a stir during an event at Capital One Arena after Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th U.S. President. He pounded his chest with his hand and raised his arm, which some internet users compared to a controversial historical gesture.
On Wednesday, the team at WDJT-TV (Channel 58) was informed that meteorologist Sam Kuffel was no longer part of their staff. Her profile was quickly removed from the station’s website later that day.
Jessie Garcia, the station’s news director, confirmed in a message to staff that Kuffel had left CBS58, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Garcia also said they were looking for a new meteorologist.
In another post, Kuffel shared a GIF from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” to express her feelings and wrote: “Screw that old b****. He’s a Nazi.”
Conservative radio host Dan O’Donnell criticized Kuffel’s Instagram posts on Tuesday, calling them “vulgar.” He accused her of “spreading the lie that Musk was giving a Nazi salute” after Trump’s Inauguration.
The popular weather presenter had worked at the station for over five years. Before that, she worked at WAOW-TV in Wausau after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2016, according to reports.
The online debate about Musk’s gesture led the ADL, a group founded in 1913 to fight discrimination against Jewish people, to defend him.
In a statement on X, the ADL said: “This is a sensitive time. Politics are heated, and social media only makes things worse.”
They explained that Musk “made an awkward gesture in a moment of excitement, not a Nazi salute.” However, they acknowledged that people are feeling tense. The group urged “all sides” to show understanding, be patient, and take a step back.
“This is a new beginning. Let’s hope for healing and unity in the coming months and years,” they concluded.
Amid the controversy, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted on X in support of Musk, saying that he was “being falsely smeared.”
Netanyahu said: “Elon is a great friend of Israel. He visited after the October 7 attack, where Hamas terrorists carried out the worst atrocity against Jewish people since the Holocaust. He has since strongly defended Israel’s right to protect itself from terrorists and regimes that want to destroy the only Jewish state. I thank him for this.”
