Inside Anderson Cooper’s One-of-a-Kind Firehouse Home with His Kids and Ex!

Anderson Cooper and his ex-boyfriend, Benjamin Maisani, are raising two children together. The kids live with Anderson in a fire station that he converted into a home.

On February 10, 2022, Anderson shared on his show “Anderson Cooper 360” that he had welcomed his second child. He co-parents the boy with Benjamin, his former partner and close friend.

The pair already had their first child, born two years earlier. Benjamin, a businessman, used to run a bar called “Eastern Bloc,” where he built connections with celebrities.

In the announcement about his new son, Anderson introduced him by saying:
“This is Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper. He was 6.8 pounds at birth, and he’s healthy and happy. Even his little hiccups are adorable. He mostly eats, sleeps, and poops, but he already seems like a wise little champ.”

Anderson expressed gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and the surrogate who helped bring Sebastian into the world. He thanked them for their sacrifices and the love they gave to Sebastian.

When Anderson had his first son, Wyatt Morgan Cooper, he also announced the news on CNN. On February 25, 2022, during an interview on “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” Anderson gave an update on how Wyatt was adjusting to his baby brother. He said:
“They seem to be getting along well. Sebastian sleeps most of the time. Wyatt calls him Luke because he can’t say Sebastian yet. Every morning, he wants to say ‘Good morning, Luke.'”

After Sebastian was born, Anderson took three weeks off work to spend time with his newborn. Speaking about his time with his kids, Anderson said:

“It’s great to come home and unwind. Every night, I feed Wyatt his milk, and he falls asleep on my chest. There’s nothing better.”

Anderson also has a daily routine with his boys. They visit a diner every morning, and Wyatt and Sebastian enjoy swimming. Anderson prepares them for their afternoon nap by reading to them until they fall asleep.

The brothers get along well and even play with toys Anderson had as a child. Anderson said watching their bond grow is “incredible.”

Benjamin began co-parenting with Anderson when Wyatt was born. Even though they are no longer together, Anderson shared:
“We’re a family. When I go to work at night, Benjamin takes care of the kids. We wake up before the boys, get them their milk, and spend the morning together. Benjamin speaks French with them.”

Anderson clarified their parenting arrangement:

We’re co-parents. We’re a family.” Benjamin is legally adopting Wyatt, who calls him “papa,” while Anderson is “daddy.” Once the adoption is finalized, Wyatt’s last name will be updated to include both parents, just like Sebastian’s.

In September 2023, Anderson called fatherhood the best time of his life, saying:
“There is no doubt about it.”

Anderson and Benjamin’s Relationship
Anderson and Benjamin started dating in 2009, went public in 2015, and broke up in 2018. Despite their split, Anderson announced that Benjamin would co-parent Wyatt, saying:
“Maisani is going to be a co-parent to Wyatt. He’s my family, and I want him to be Wyatt’s family too.”

In 2021, Anderson opened up about their arrangement, saying:

“It’s probably unusual, but it works for us and Wyatt. We’re exes, but we’re family. We love each other as family and co-parents.”

Anderson once shared his frustration about missing Wyatt’s first steps. Meanwhile, Benjamin noted how much Anderson changed after becoming a father. Reflecting on their bond, Anderson explained:
“If you’ve loved someone, there’s no reason that love shouldn’t continue after the relationship changes.”

Inside Anderson’s Firehouse Home
In June 2020, Anderson gave a glimpse of his unique home, a fire station he converted into a residence. His first son’s nursery featured a blue theme, personal mementos, and stuffed animals from Anderson’s childhood.

The home includes brass fire poles, spiral staircases, and murals showing the firehouse’s history. Anderson spent years restoring the property and even added an elevator.

One notable feature in the living room is a side table with a Victorian calendar showing July 22, 1988—the date Anderson’s brother tragically passed away. Anderson said he kept the calendar to hold onto memories of his family.

The house also displays personal artifacts, like Anderson’s great-great-grandfather’s Civil War commissioning notice and a photograph of Anderson in Afghanistan.

The firehouse, built in 1906, was renovated by architect Cary Tamarkin and features taxidermy, Old Master paintings, and hand-painted signs collected from Anderson’s travels.

Anderson lost his mother in 2019 and faced significant grief over the years. On his podcast, “All There Is With Anderson Cooper,” he opened up about loss, saying it made him feel less alone.
