Kevin Costner, who is 68 years old, is probably hoping that 2024 will be a quieter and less eventful year for him compared to 2023. He’s a famous actor, so he’s used to being in the news and having people talk about him online.
But even for someone as well-known as Kevin Costner, last year was full of ups and downs. A lot of attention was given to his decision to leave the popular TV show Yellowstone. However, the real big news was about his separation from his long-time partner, Christine Baumgartner.
It was reported that Kevin was really surprised when he found out that his wife wanted a divorce. This led to a difficult time for the couple as they went through a tumultuous period, facing off against each other in court.
Costner and Baumgartner were married for 18 years before Baumgartner decided to end the marriage by filing for divorce on May 1, 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Costner was said to be really surprised by her choice.
As we jump ahead to the end of 2023, it seems like Costner was trying to move on from his past. There are reports that he’s now in a relationship with singer Jewel. They were recently seen together on Richard Branson’s Necker Island at a tennis fundraiser for the Inspiring Children Foundation.
It’s likely that Kevin Costner would prefer to have a quiet year in 2024, but it’s not surprising that people are talking about him after he presented an award at the Golden Globes last weekend.
Costner and America Ferrera joined forces to present the award for Best Female Actor in a Television Series: Musical or Comedy, which was won by Ayo Edebiri from The Bear.
It seems like the interaction between Costner and Ferrera on stage resonated well with the audience. Many people online praised Costner for mentioning a scene from Ferrera’s monologue in Barbie. On stage, Costner said, “You know, you have a scene that I really love. I think a lot of people really love that scene. You know, ‘It’s literally impossible to be a woman.’ You know that, ‘You’re so beautiful. You’re so smart and it kills me that you don’t think you’re good enough.’ That was pretty good.”
America responded, saying, “Kevin Costner, did you remember my talk about being a woman from Barbie?”
Kevin admitted he didn’t remember the whole thing but continued with a laugh, saying, “But it’s an important message, and it always serves to remind me what’s possible in films. It just reminds me that when we take our time, when we manage to get it right, when film is working at its very best, it can be about moments you never ever forget.”
As mentioned earlier, the exchange between the two presenters was liked by people all over the world.
One person commented, “I was laughing so hard with Kevin Costner trying to stay serious…also, aging well! Yay America.”
Another person joked, “He worked as much on that segment as he did on his English accent in Robin Hood.”
And a third person added, “Lmao he’s trying so hard to stay serious 😂.”
