A 100-year-old person and a 102-year-old person fell in love while living in a nursing home. They liked each other so much that they decided to get married.

A man and a woman, both over 100 years old, met and fell deeply in love. Just a few months later, they decided to get married at the courthouse.

This love story is a bit different because it involves seniors. John and Phyllis Cook live in the same senior care facility in Ohio. They have apartments on the same floor, and that’s how they found each other and became close.

Phyllis, who will turn 103 soon, said, “To tell you the truth, we fell in love with each other. I know you think that may be a little bit far-fetched for somebody our age, but we fell in love with each other.”

John, a 100-year-old WWII veteran, added, “Well, we were just compatible in a whole lot of ways, found ourselves enjoying each other’s company.” Both had been married twice before and were widowed.

But their quality time together goes beyond playing Bingo. When asked what their favorite activity to do together was, John replied: “Well, I probably shouldn’t talk about that.”

Phyllis, however, was more candid:

“He’s not completely dead sexually and neither am I!” Phyllis told KHOU 11. But she had her morals to consider: “I just don’t believe in hopping in bed as a Christian unless you’re married.”

So John agreed to make an honest woman out of her, and they headed to the courthouse for a marriage certificate.

Surprisingly, after going to the courthouse, they found out they could get married right there. John said, “It wasn’t the plan, but we got here, and they said we could marry you here.” He was eager to start married life, saying, “I said ‘good, let’s get it over with.'”

Even though they are quite old, they might have good genes on their side. Phyllis’ mother lived to be 106. So, they can look forward to many happy years together as a married couple.

This story shows that you can always find new love and start fresh, no matter how old you are.

Even though they are married now, the couple understands the importance of having their own space. Phyllis mentioned that they are still keeping their own apartments. They’re taking their time and not rushing into things.
